2011 ToAD Update
This years Tour of Americas Dairyland has had its ups and downs for team Fond du Lac Cyclery. In the Cat 4/5 Thiensville race Team Fond du Lac Cyclery's Matt Stachelski finished 3rd taking a spot on the podium. Later that same day in the Cat 2/3 race Nick Sabel rolled a tubular off of his rear wheel in turn one on the last lap causing his race to end early in a 30+ mph crash. Two more crashes occurred on the last lap of the 2/3 race and a total of 11 crashes during the event. This was a very sketchy day out on the course with riders spending most of the day avoiding crashes and trying to get back into the main field. Grafton was a tough race in the 2/3 field with an average speed of 27.2 mph. Nick Sabel managed to hang in the peloton for a middle of the pack finish of 49th place. Waukesha was another DNF for Nick due to a crash on turn 5 that split the peloton causing the riders behind the crash to go into chase mode. Nick chased for 2 laps before deciding to save some energy for the next day. Stage 5 of the ToAD was the Greenbush Road Race, which was a good change of pace from the criterium racing. Early in the day a two man break went out and stayed out for about 10 miles before being caught. For the rest of the day the peloton stayed together. When is came down to the end of the race it was quite difficult to move through the field and Nick ended up finishing in the top half taking 26th place. This afternoon is the Schlitz Park Criterium and maybe Team Fond du Lac Cyclery can pull off a top ten finish today.

Team Fond du Lac Cyclery Takes the Top Spot in 60 Mile Mens Solo at WEMS Stump Farm
On Saturday May 14, 2011 Several athletes from Team Fond du Lac Cyclery competed in the WEMS Stump Farm endurance mountain bike race. Ted Hanes finished first in the 60 mile solo race destroying the competition with Nick Sabel coming in 6th in the same race. Dan Schaefer was racing strong in the 60 miles solo, but had multiple flats taking him out of the race. Randy Wegener finished the 100 mile mens solo race in 6th place putting in some impressive lap times. Dave Dewitt and Dirk Bjornstad took the top spot in the 100 mile Duo race finishing in 9 hours and 30 minutes. Shawn Hoppe battled to the end to grab a spot in the top ten of the 30 mile solo race. Trail conditions were in good with some mud in the last mile of the ten mile loop. Overall it was an excellent day of racing and a great performance by all of the Team Fond du Lac Cyclery athletes.
